  1. Nestlé 100 years: IFeedback App

    Nespray, Milo, Nescafe, Maggi... the list just never ends. Hardly anyone grew up without ever coming into contact with a Nestlé product, or at least hardly anyone we know. It's probably so common in our lives that no one really notices it. But there it is, and it has grown with us through the years, having numerous improvements made to the brands under Nestlé, and will continue to do so.
    In order to improve, feedback is required! Recently Nestlé has released an application called iFeedback.   We downloaded it on our iPhones to give feedback on a product that we both love, and I'm sure many of you do too - MILO!
    Ever since our discovery of the Australian recipe version of Milo, we've been crazy about it. It's richer and creamier, that it can be consumed all on its own! No need for additional sugar, milk, just plain old Milo. We really hope they adopt this as the mainstream Milo product and make it the same price, although we're not really sure if that's possible...


    I drink Milo everyday! Milo is a great combination with many food products. Long long time ago, when I'm still a toddler, my mum would prepare Milo with Nestum as my breakfast because she knew that both food products contain essential vitamins for my growth and she wouldn't need to force me to drink it because it's just so delicious!


    As I grew older, my mum started to get me cereals for breakfast and my favourite flavour is MILO! 
    Till date, I still have them for breakfast! (: When the school pack version came out, I would bring one small packet to school as snacks because they are made from wholesome grains. This means that I can eat as much as I want, yet not worrying about things like trans-fat as the cereals are full of vitamins, fibre and minerals! 


    I would order Milo when I'm at the coffee shops having my meals, buy a packet of Milo from the vending machine when I'm in school, and would run for my Milo van when there's events!


    With my love for Milo, I decided to explore food products that I can mix with Milo! Milo milkshake, Milo with bread, and my favourite: Milo Doggie Cookies!
    In summary, Milo totally makes wonder with so many things and is definitely indispensable food product that one would have at home!  


    For me, I've just been drinking Milo on a daily basis when I was growing up. Even when I was in the army, they offered Milo packets which just made your day when I was cold and hungry in the field. Milo really provides you with energy to go on through the day, and it tastes really good when combined with Nestlé's Nescafe coffee. It's like Mocha! Milo dinosaur and godzilla are both insane beverages made from spamming Milo, which we all love with our prata. 


    We can't really tell what Milo has got to improve on, except for the awesomeness of the Australian recipe, we just hope that Milo will continue to stay in our lives! I wish Nestlé would come up with an all-in-one Milo product vending machine for all the avid Milo fans! It would have Milo can drinks, Milo packets, Milo milk tea,  Milo Dinosaur, Milo cereal, Milo snack bars and everything Milo can possibly go with!

  2. Behind the scenes

    Our temp jobs have brought us to some interesting places! And this is one of them!
    We're here not for a movie, but something more exciting, to go to a place where hardly anyone has the chance to.

     Any idea where's this?
     Here's another clue: High powered projector.
     A very big clue!
    Yep, we're at the projection room where movies are screened! Projection rooms are found on the higher floors, with the doors concealed in places where people seldom walk past. The doors are also protected by a passcode so that only staff can enter. Even so, cameras and any recording equipment would be banned to prevent piracy! But since we're not pirates, the person in charge was really nice to us for allowing this exception.
    Ice Age 4 was screening when we're there! The cinemas were pretty empty since it was lunchtime. However, we asked the senior engineer and he said that movies have to go on even if there's only one customer. Isn't it hard on them?
    The senior engineer was explaining to us about how the projection and stuff works, and he pointed out to this (as shown above). In the past, films were recorded onto 35mm reels, and this huge white shelves housed the reels while not in use. After each movie was played, they had to manually rewind, or re-roll the reel using really primitive equipment! It's really hard to imagine how hectic it would be to man 4 projectors especially if all were playing the same movie during peak periods. This was the analog era.

    However, nowadays, they are changing to digital formats! They have really cool computers which have loads of wires leading out to huge projectors! I guess this way it's less tiring for the technicians! We even managed to catch a glimpse of a film reel which said 'The Dark Knight Rises'

    It's an eye opener. Well at least the next time we walk into a cinema, we know what's going on behind the scenes!

  3. Loving Hut: Vegetarian in Suntec!

    We visited Loving Hut recently for lunch. There was a lunch crowd but we managed to get seats!
    Loving Hut originated with the vision that all beings can live in peace, love and harmony with each other and in tune with the Earth. With environmentally friendly concept and healthy, all of the dishes in Loving Hut are purely plant-based (vegan).
     Main Courses, fried rice to fried mee, they offer the option of onions, depending on your dietary restrictions.
     Snacks, drinks and desserts
    I had Wanton Mee (dry) $5. When you make your order at the counter, the staff would ask if you take onions and chilli. For me, I can't take onions but I like wanton mee with lots of chilli! Generous serving of vegetables, vegetarian meat and 3 wantons! Yums! (:
    There were 2 kinds of fried rice and I opted for the tumeric fried rice since the other one was a little bit boring. Papadum, fake egg and achar were the side dishes. The rice itself was very fragrant and has some mock meat as well as mushrooms. The papadum was really crispy and didn't have the really heavy spice taste which is present in some indian stalls' papadum. The achar wasn't the best I've tasted but it still served as a great complement. The fake egg is basically sweet potato in the centre with mock fishcake at the side wrapped in thin ngoh hiang skin. Overall a decent dish, and at $6.80, you're probably paying for the location rather than the food.
     Every order comes with a soup! Really sweet! I finished all the carrots!
    Unlike those half past six soups which don't really have much taste, Loving Hut's soup has quite a bit of flavour in it, and I suppose they did spend some time to boil it so that the taste from the ingredients made the soup much richer. Thumbs up for this one.
    Loving Hut offers quite tasty food by far, if we compare it with all the vegetarian stalls in shopping malls. If they had other outlets other than Suntec, it would be great because the cost would be lower. Other than the price tag the food is good! Would drop by again if we're in the area.

  4. Thanks to my dad whose friend is one of the winners in the Singapore Gardens Festival, we managed to get complimentary tickets! We didn't really dress up for the exhibition because it was really an impromptu decision.

    The exhibition started on 7 July and would end on 15 July. So if you do not have any plans for this weekend yet, here's a place to check out! (: 

    Singapore Gardens Festival is held at the Suntec Convention Hall. Ticket are sold at their respective prices below at level 3. Drop by Level 6 first for the really gorgeous landscape gardens before heading to Level 4 which has various other exhibits and vendors selling horticulture related stuff.
     Welcomed by these really pretty flowers even before we stepped into the hall
     You can purchase the map of the exhibition at $1 from the information counter, not really needed in my opinion.

    Ideas for wedding dinner by Grand Hyatt. There's a dynamic exhibit in the background, the name as Upturned or something in it. The whole exhibit comes alive every 10 minutes so remember to check it out!
     Really love this wedding dress - You have to check out the design!
    I tried taking a "perspective" photo as if you were someone which was pint sized and walking amongst the giant flowers!

     You get to stick leaves on the places you like, I liked Coastal Park whilst my boy likes Squall which was basically Ubin.
    Can you recognize this animal? I couldn't and I mistook it for the green monster in Sesame street at first...
    Hint: I have a long nose!

    There's of course more to expect at the exhibition so here's just a preview of the place. We took nearly 3 hours to complete the place. Lots of picture taking you can expect on Level 6 and lots of urge to get those small pots of flowers on Level 4! 


    Be sure to check out this place before 15 July! It's a pity that we didn't come here earlier. The ticket prices are really worth it if you are an aspiring landscaper or just love to appreciate plants. They even have booths set up by aquascapers which make you nice aquariums. Get some ideas for your home, or simply marvel at the creativity the competitors have put into their work and just enjoy all the fragrance. Singapore Gardens Festival, a true floral fiesta!

  5. Om nom nom nivore!

    As the saying goes "The way to a man's heart, is through his stomach". And definitely true for me! Luckily, Smallhello is a wonderful cook as well as an avid baker! Western, Chinese, Japanese styles of vegetarian cooking, cookies, cakes, pastries are also under her belt! We are by no means lacking in terms of gastronomical delight in our lives.


    Since we seldom see each other during school term, she tries her best to cook for me every weekend! And even though I always suggest the same old dishes, she insists on cooking new ones! Some of the "repeated" dishes are...
    Fried rice and Bee Tai Mak
    A combination of dishes which increases your appetite for rice! Breaded fried fish on the top left, tom yum on the top right, marinated chicken on the bottom left and the last one a combination of fish slices, egg tofu, and curry vegetables!


    Some of the more epic dishes whipped up on special events like monthsaries include...
    A lot of hard work and creativity put into a Japanese set meal!
    Pizza and Potato Gratin

    I have a role to play in that pizza too! Isn't it hard to believe that all these dishes are actually vegetarian? Well they are, and pretty delicious too! Since young she has been obligated to cook, and that's why she has experience in this area, and she enjoys it too. As mentioned, she doesn't just enjoy cooking but baking too! She continuously searches for recipes online and modifies it to suit my taste. Birthdays, anniversaries, or even when I just have a craving, a cake, cookie is definitely going to show up.

    All these goodies only come with one undesirable side effect - weight gain! Nevertheless I'm super lucky to have a capable chef/baker/patissier in my life! Om nom nom will never be a problem =)

  6. Do you sew?

    My boy did up the flash banner even though he's sick! Really amazed by his capabilities in HTML even though he doesn't study IT related modules. Good job for the banner my dear boy! :D

    Was packing my room recently and really feel that my boy's sewing skills have improved ALOT. I didn't take Home Economics in Secondary school so my sewing skills are really poor. In fact, I don't even know how to sew a button! ):

    These were sewed for me 3 years ago! A pink bun was sewed after he had a xiao long bao dinner with his primary school friends. He feels that my cheeks are as chubby as the baos! And then, I requested for a pouch to keep my lip balm and comb. Isn't the polar bear pouch cute? :D
    The best and last item he sewed for me was this laptop case which I think no one can ever beat him in it! No sewing machine was used ok? He even included a soft towel material in the case so that I can lie on it when I'm tired in school! 

    Who else can sew like him? Even if there is... Think no one can be as meticulous as him... (: Maybe he should post some tips on sewing soon if anyone wants to attempt making a small gift for your loved one!
